Paribus begins developing Virtual Editor Wiki!

Paribus has begun creating a 'Wiki' to allow individuals and organizations to create their own grammar and style checking rules!

Paribus staff currently manage Virtual Editor's database of rules. Paribus recognizes that in addition to this process, Virtual Editor would greatly benefit if others could add their grammar and style rules as well.

Both individuals and organizations will be able to use the Wiki system. The Wiki system will allow users to browse existing rules, create and edit their own rules, and comment on rules entered by others. For organizations, users can implement rules for specific groups within the organization or for the entire organization.

The wiki will check the new rules against a large corpus of texts to show (in real time) how Virtual Editor will flag items in an actual Virtual Editor report. This quality assurance mechanism is one of the keys to Virtual Editor's power!

Rule designers can choose to keep rules private or make them available to the public. User-designed rules will still undergo quality checks by Paribus before they are made available to the public.

If you would like to be added to the list to try a beta version of Virtual Editor Wiki please contact us.

April, 2007

Paribus staff visited the first annual Philadelphia Book Festival, at The Free Library of Philadelphia on April 21 and 22, 2007 to present Virtual Editor.

We had a great time meeting the Book Festival visitors and talking to them about Virtual Editor. We initially attracted people to our table with adorable plush "Pooks" (from Michael Stadther's "A Treasure's Trove"). When we spoke to people we focused on the fact that everyone does some type of formal writing, whether for work, school, or their soon-to-be-published stories.

People were very interested in how Virtual Editor could help them with their writing. A number of people were eager to go home and try it for themselves.

Thank you to everyone we met at the Book Festival.
