- How does the process work?
1. Submit your Microsoft Word document using the form on the homepage.
2. Your Virtual Editor report will be delivered to your email address in a short time.
3. Save the attached report to your computer and review the comments.
- How do I use my Virtual Editor report?
There are two ways to use the report:
1. Apply the edits to the Virtual Editor report
Open your Virtual Editor report. For each comment, make the suggested change (if you agree with the suggestion) and then delete the comment balloon by right-clicking
it and selecting 'delete comment'.
When you are done applying all the comments, delete the Virtual Editor header
pages from the beginning of the report and save the document - be careful to use
a different file name from the original document.
2. Apply the edits to your original document
Open both your original document and your Virtual Editor report in Microsoft Word.
For each comment in the Virtual Editor report, make the suggested change in the
corresponding text in your original document (if you agree with the suggestion).
When you are done with all the comments, save the
edited document - be careful to use a different file name from your original document.
- What can cause my document to not be processed?
The following lists some reasons why documents might not be processed successfully by Virtual Editor:
1. The document is too long and cannot be processed in a reasonable time.
Try splitting your document into two or more smaller documents and submitting them individually.
2. The document file is larger than 4mb.
Try splitting your document into two or more smaller documents and
submitting them individually.
3. The document has too many spelling errors.
Try correcting at least half of the errors and re-submit the document
to Virtual Editor.
4. The document contains only non-text items such as embedded graphics.
- What if I don't receive my document after I submit it?
